![]() ![]() ![]() itv was a tuesday nite, hardly close to busy. they were out of she crab soup, which took 20 mins to get from the kitchen. most of the food was greasy and luke warm. our waiter was great but the food was horrible. we told the waiter he went to the kitchen to bring more out. ![]() we went up to get an order of crab legs that was luke warm, ans my husband had got scallops and oysters they were cold. on this night a whole section of the buffet was out of order. we have been to capt georges many times, but i am sorry to say that our last few visits have been less than desirable. Or, perhaps, try for early rather than late. My suggestion would be, if you walk in on a slow night and the pans are near empty, consider walking back out. I commend their willingness but am unimpressed by the execution. Given the food we tasted, at that cost, even understanding the circumstances, and with sincere apologies and attempts at amends, it’s a pretty good bet that we will not be going back. Even so, with drinks, tip and tax, the bill was about forty-five dollars. Ultimately, they only charged us for one meal. Given that each person pays more than thirty dollars for the privilege, the restaurant needs to deal with the conditions as they are. I suppose in many ways, this is the most difficult time to keep a buffet appetizing when the pans empty in half-hours or hours rather than minutes, but that is the business Captain George is in. There were not twenty customers in the place. For what it's worth, we went to the restaurant on a Monday night, about 7:30 p.m., on March 1, so it was an off day in the off season. That turned out to be impossible, as the oily margarine dip did in my ambition before I could break enough of those tiny legs to make a meal. ![]() I believe it was a sincere promise, but by then my wife had lost her appetite, and I had resolved to try to get my value out of the crab legs. Our waiter immediately fetched the manager, and the manager was willing to have the kitchen prepare for us any dish that we had found unsatisfactory. When asked how the food was, I explained as gently as possible the many failings. What keeps Captain George's from last place was the service. Altogether, more than enough to rate this restaurant near the bottom of a very long list. I tried to make the best of it by eating as many crab legs as possible-but the diminutive crabs who'd donated made that a difficult task. My wife nibbled at a few items, couldn’t stomach most, and settled for a couple things from the dessert table. For example, we found two pieces of tuna in one, three pieces of salmon in the next, a few scraps of Mahi, cool broccoli, and on and on. Most pans were near empty, with food lukewarm at best, yet still overcooked. Our experience at Captain George’s buffet was not good. By the way, they calculate your tip at 15% and add it to your check. Unless your pockets are deep and you don't mind dining with ill-mannered children, I would stongly recommend going somewhere else. Why would you take a 2 year old to a $35 per plate restaurant anyway? Get them a happy meal & leave them with a sitter. There should be a section in this massive building to sit families with young children, away from adults who are trying to enjoy their over-priced meal and carry on a conversation without having their guests repeat themselves constantly due to ill-mannered children. This was just the topper to a meal spent listening to a 2 year old who did not know how to behave in public and parents who did nothing to control their child. He kept blaming the credit card company, and in no way tried to make it right. He refused to take any off the bill, or even offer a discount on a future meal. The manager was not sympathic, and only offered excuses & a half-hearted apology for the"inconvienence". The servers kept saying "it'll be a couple minutes". There was an issue with their credit card reader, which caused many patrons to sit for 30-45 minutes waiting for the staff to figure out what to do. While there was a wide variety of seafood, the price was astronomical. ![]()

Instead, it reaffirmed people’s desire for Coca-Cola and gave Coca-Cola the spotlight on the national stage.Ĭoca-Cola quietly brought back their original recipe. In response, Coca-Cola tied to change their recipe, and introduced a new version to keep up with the times. The popular stunt certainly gave Pepsi what it wanted with a bigger share of the market. According to Pepsi, most people preferred Pepsi over Coca-Cola. Small booths were set up throughout malls all over America, where young hires wearing a bright Pepsi Challenge t-shirt would ask anyone passing by to do a blind taste test. ![]() In 1975, Pepsi started the Pepsi Challenge, to really push its growth by taking a share of Coca-Cola’s audience. The logotype changed colors from the harsh black to match the blue energy of the lower wave.Īnd, rather than stay confined to a bottle cap, the logo took on the circle emblem that we’re still familiar with to this day. It went from a straightforward sans serif to a more futuristic font with rounded edges. Keeping the font fairly simple, the brand did start to shift its style. ![]() The flat design of the ‘60’s was here to stay. The words on the slight upward swoop gave the feeling of motion and energy. Notice that with all of these logotypes, the Pepsi-Cola name is already written on a wave-an element that continues throughout the lifetime of the Pepsi brand. And, the lines from the ‘C’ took on flourishes that highlight the rest of the word, without the awkward connection it had previously tried to share with the ‘P.’ The letters were clean cut and more thinned out from the version in 1906, where the font gave off a little bit of a carnival vibe. Over time, the logo words started to become softer and less wild, in that the letters started to show a much more even spacing.īy 1940, the logo was paired down to a succinct banner with smooth words. The drink was being marketed as a health aid for digestion, and the tagline was “Exhilarating, Invigorating, Aids Digestion” accordingly. The thin letters with uneven kerning (spacing between letters) was the first attempt to create the overall feel of the brand. ![]() The initial Pepsi-Cola logo came with a very strange font that was more common way back when. ![]() ![]() ![]() For example, AVD can quickly join the session host directly to Azure Active Directory (AD). When the virtual desktop infrastructure of the Microsoft platform was rebranded under the name Azure, it introduced new management and security capabilities. It’s imperative to note, however, that no technical changes are being made to AVD as part of this remote app streaming announcement. This helps both ISVs and IT departments utilize AVD as the fundamental infrastructure to deliver applications as a service. Microsoft also helps ISVs and customers leverage AVD to stream applications and desktops to users outside their own companies. ISVs are therefore now leveraging the AVD platform to deliver rich, Windows-based applications to their clients at scale. With Azure Virtual Desktop, the new licensing model for ISV application streaming allows them to make payments to Microsoft for each user connecting to the app via AVD, without having to fret about the user’s current Windows 10 Enterprise entitlements. To add more intricacy, WVD licensing wasn’t very transparent in these situations, mostly because WVD is an entitlement of a Windows 10 Enterprise subscription for the client. Previously, if an ISV wanted to publish an app, they had to make sure all users connecting to the RemoteApp had essential Windows 10 subscriptions in their company-based Azure AD tenant, which was a significant challenge. It also determines the commercial model for predicting the Azure consumption that each customer will drive. It’s challenging for independent software vendors (ISVs) to deal with the technical aspect of creating a multi-tenant, secure environment for various customers that’s also manageable and easy to support. ![]() AVD makes it easier for ISVs to design solutions New and noteworthy: Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)Īzure Virtual Desktop (AVD) carries forward some of WVD’s features, but with valuable enhancements such as virtual machines (multi-sessions), additional security features and app streaming capabilities, among others. But it’s not only about a change in the name-Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) have a few distinct differences worth mentioning. However, the evolving nature of remote and hybrid work environments have presented new company use cases that prompted Microsoft to upgrade their platform, creating a modern cloud-based virtual desktop infrastructure.Īs such, in June 2021 Microsoft announced WVD is rebranding to Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). You just saved 80% of the time to focus on more important tasks. You’ll use the final 10% of the time for quality control, request revisions or add the finishing touches. The middle 80% is the bulk of the work that the delegate will be completing. The first 10% of the effort will be your responsibility to set up the work correctly, set clear expectations and deadlines, and provide the resources necessary for someone to complete the task. I recommend using the 10/80/10 method for delegation to achieve the best results. The rest can and should be delegated to other team members whenever possible.ĭelegation can be a powerful tool if done correctly. It’s important to spend more of your time focusing on the 20% that is the most impactful. Delegate MoreĪccording to the Pareto Principle (often referred to as the 80/20 rule), 20% of your tasks will often create about 80% of your results. Instead, schedule a smaller block of time, and you can naturally figure out how to get it done within the time allotted. When using your calendar to schedule focus time, it’s critical that you keep Parkinson’s Law in mind: “Work expands to fill the time available for its completion.” This means that if you schedule two hours for a task, you’ll likely use all of this time. You can also use this time to work on several tasks that are similar in nature. This ensures that you have dedicated time for focused work that is free from other meetings or obligations.įirst, if you have a project that you are working on, block out an hour on your calendar to do nothing but this task. Planning your time carefully can increase the amount of time that you spend focusing on high-quality work. More likely than not, you’ll find that even making a small amount of progress can increase your motivation to keep working on the task. The trick is to give yourself permission to stop if you can't get into the groove. To combat this, set a timer for 10 minutes to get started on the task (such as starting a rough draft). Instead of getting started on the task, you avoid it and look for easier alternatives like checking email. Procrastination often stems from three reasons: fear of success, fear of failure and perfectionism. Oftentimes, delaying getting started is a result of procrastination. Getting started on a task is often the most difficult part of staying focused since this requires the most amount of brain power to shift from another task. Since the time is limited, you will be more likely to “beat the clock.” It also has a built-in reward system with rests for successfully completing the interval. The Pomodoro Technique works because it forces you to consciously focus your efforts on a single task. After three intervals, it's recommended that you take a longer break (between 20 and 30 minutes). ![]() However, you can adjust this to fit your needs. ![]() Most Pomodoro intervals are 25 minutes long with a five- to 10-minute break in between. Once the time has expired, you can take a short break to give your mind and body a rest before starting the next interval. Use The Pomodoro Techniqueĭeveloped in the 1980s as a way to help increase productivity, the Pomodoro Technique uses a simple timer (like the one on your smartphone) to block out intervals for uninterrupted, deep-focus work. Listening to binaural music while working can create a sense of calm, focus, creativity, positive thinking and stress relief. Your brain is then forced to synchronize these two tones into a single frequency of its own to align with your natural brainwaves. Binaural music is a form of music or tone that produces a different hertz (Hz) frequency in each ear (you’ll need headphones for this to work). One of those strategies is listening to binaural music (often referred to as binaural beats). Fortunately, there are some scientifically proven methods that can help your brain stay on track. Being focused simply goes against our natural instincts. In nature, our brains were designed to constantly be on the lookout for threats. Your brain is a complex organ, and we are just scratching the surface of understanding it. ![]() ![]() It will continue to provide good service for many years to come. I'd just wish PC makers would start adopting such M1-like technologies as well, without the Apple-weaknesses like premium prices and soldering SSDs to the motherboard. ![]() It seems the Apple M1 chipset (and its successors) are very well optimized, even if they still lose in raw power to the above-mentioned monsters. However, laptop gamer that I am, I have a growing interest on newer technologies that are trying to do things more efficiently. Just slap a 5000W power supply to the system and you are fine. When people ask who makes the best processor I now have to answer: It depends, as Intel, AMD and Apple all win in some tasks speedwise even if the Macs usually win in power consumption. Or I dunno, maybe they make more money that way from dedicated Apple enthusiasts, but at least it made me think I will definitely NOT buy a M1 Mac with my own money. Booo! I feel that really was a stupid move from Apple. The SSD drive is soldered to the motherboard, so you can't replace it yourself, either to replace a broken SSD, or replace it with a bigger one. I am just excited about the the new chip design that does seem to offer many benefits, like good performance for little power usage / heat generation.Īnd my new colleague that just started at our work asked, and got, one too as his work laptop! Marimba21: And do you think such an enhanced filter for M1 Macs could be added? I presume that when M1 Macs become more commonplace (which I think will happen because they are now on everyone's lips and soooo sexy), both game developers/publishers and stores like Steam and GOG will start taking it more seriously. What is the easiest way to see if a "Mac" game is using DosBox or Wine?Īnd do you think such an enhanced filter for M1 Macs could be added? What I am asking for howver is to have some sort of indication if a game that is declared as "running on Mac", for example when using the Mac filter in GOG Galaxy, is actually running on Wine or Dosbox.Įven better would be if those games would be filtered out and not shown, like changing that filter to "Intel Mac" and "M1 Mac" or something. I don't blame GOG for that problem - you can't expect that Wine would run on that Rosetta2 compatibility layer. Can anyone confirm this, do you see this too with your M1 Macs? For example, Alpha Centauri crashes the Mac to a sort of soft restart - the Mac is not really restarting, but after starting Alpha centauri nothing happens for a while, then the Mac is terminating all running apps, a behaviour I have never seen on Intel Macs. Those games appear to be the ones which use DosBox and/or Wine to run on Intel Macs. I recently got an M1/Silicon Mac and it seems that games that worked before on Intel Macs don't work anymore. ![]() ![]() You can look up all items and buildings of Anno 1800 with their respective stats and bonuses.Ī great overview of all the fan created tools can be found on the already-mentioned Wiki. ![]() If you want to try to beat a record or have already achieved one of your own – why not put it there for all eternity and internet fame?Īnother handy tool to have if you don’t want to look up some information directly in the game or haven’t unlocked certain buildings yet, is the Asset Viewer.
